How to use it

  1. Download the BiciMAD app and register (you can also migrate your account to MPass, EMT's single-account system).
  2. Scan the bike's QR code or enter its plate number; without the app, you can use a linked card on the dock or lock.
  3. You can take bikes docked at a station or bikes parked around it.

What the station map shows

  • Green station: low occupancy.
  • Blue station: medium occupancy.
  • Red station: high occupancy.
  • Grey station: not operating.

All BiciMAD users are insured while using the service, according to the official website. The service also reaches Pozuelo de Alarcón.

Is there a 1 or 3-day tourist pass?

BiciMAD's official website does not show 1, 3 or 5-day tourist passes; only the basic contract and the 30-day flat rate. Some travel guides mention those passes, but we could not confirm them on the official website, so we do not treat them as valid. If you stay only a few days, the basic contract with short trips is cheap.

When it makes sense and when it does not

  • For short trips with time to spare: a cheap and quick option.
  • With luggage, at night or in bad weather: better a taxi or VTC or the Metro.

If you prefer not to pedal

A private electric tuk tuk takes you to the key sights with no effort and a driver-guide.
