These fares rose by a weighted 2.38% on 1 January 2026. For trips under 1,450 metres, tariff 7 applies, with a starting price of €8. We could not confirm the flag-fall amount for tariffs 1 and 2: check the meter.

Taxi to the airport: fixed fare

Between the airport and any point inside the M-30 the fare is fixed at €33, with no change for night or luggage. Details are in our guide to how to get from the airport to the centre. Tariff 3 (airport minimum) covers destinations outside the M-30 under 9 km and does not apply to pre-booked services.

Taxi or VTC: the differences

  • Taxi: hailed on the street or at a rank, and the meter shows the official fare.
  • VTC (Uber, Cabify, Bolt…): booked only through the app, cannot pick up passengers on the street and show the price before the trip (according to Madrid Destino).

Since 2019, the Community of Madrid allows taxis to offer closed prices when booked in advance.

Tips to avoid surprises

  1. Only get into official taxis and check the meter starts at the beginning.
  2. If you use an app, check the licence plate and driver's name before getting in.
  3. Always ask for a receipt and do not accept offers from people who approach you at the terminal or in the street.
  4. Check the price in the app first, or ask whether there is a fixed fare for your route.

Another way to get around: a driver-guide

If instead of going from A to B you want to see the city, a private 2-hour tuk tuk tour takes you past the key sights with a driver who tells you about them.
