Hours from Patrimonio Nacional (Campo del Moro), Madrid's tourist office (esmadrid.com) and the City Council, checked on 19 October 2026. They can change.
Campo del Moro: the Royal Palace gardens
It is free and open every day except 25 December, 1 January and 1 May. There are three entrances with different hours:
- Paseo de la Virgen del Puerto: 10:00 am-6:00 pm from October to March.
- Cuesta de la Vega: 10:00 am-6:00 pm from October to March.
- Cuesta de San Vicente: 10:00 am-6:00 pm from October to March.
Patrimonio Nacional warns that opening depends on the weather and possible official events, and lists reduced-hours days on its website (for example, on 21 and 22 October it opens 10:00 am to 3:00 pm). See also the Royal Palace hours.
Temple of Debod: free entry, better with a booking
The Egyptian temple is free both outside and inside. The outdoor area can be visited at any time; the inside follows the hours in the table. The tourist office recommends booking your entry in advance at madrid.es/debodreservas and confirming the hours by phone if you need to (+34 913 66 74 15).
El Capricho: the secret garden that opens only at weekends
El Capricho, in the Alameda de Osuna, is a free historic garden that in winter opens only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. It can close without notice after heavy rain or strong wind so the trees can be inspected. There are free guided tours, about 30 minutes long for groups of 20, which need a prior booking.
It is in the north-east edge of the city: allow time for public transport. See the tourist travel pass if you will make several trips.
If it rains or the wind picks up
The Retiro and other parks close in strong weather alerts (it happened in March 2025 with wind). Have an indoor plan: see the museums with free entry.
And to see it all without tired legs
The Campo del Moro, the Retiro and Debod are far from each other. A private 3-hour tuk tuk brings you to those corners with a driver-guide, and our guide to the Temple of Debod at sunset explains when to go.
