Tips to choose and not get it wrong

  1. Set your times: shop points have short hours or close on Sundays; automatic lockers are 24 hours.
  2. Compare per day, not per hour: if you leave bags for a full day, the daily rate is usually better.
  3. Check the size: in lockers, size decides the price.
  4. Book ahead in high season and carry ID.
  5. Valuables: do not leave your passport, cash or medicine; carry them with you.

Bag-free, off to see the city

Once you are rid of your bags, a private 1-hour tuk tuk takes you past the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Retiro Park with a driver-guide, and you can choose a start at Puerta del Sol. To plan the day, see Madrid in one day.
